Description

IC356, aka Arp 213, is a relatively rarely imaged galaxy, probably becasue it is obscured by dust in our Milky Way and therefore, like its more famous neighbour IC342, a faint reddish "hidden" galaxy. It is also further away than IC342 and therefore much smaller as seen from Earth.

I captured it with my 14" SCT during several nights but seeing was variable and most subs had to be thrown out. In comparison with my 400 mm focal length RASA 8 that I was running the same nights, poor seing is really an issue with this 3550 mm SCT. I ended up with 46 x 5 min RGB captured with the ASI071MC and 69 x 3 min Lum with my new QHY268MM (first light for it).
